Colleen & Calvin’s Milwaukee Wedding at the Pritzlaff
It's June, it's hot, it's stormy, and it's definitely wedding season. I'm so excited to share this gorgeous wedding preview with everyone, but before I get to it, I have to say: I just feel so blessed. This summer marks my seventh wedding season as a solo, full-time wedding photographer. Beyond the obvious benefits of the experiences I've had and the things I've learned, I'm enjoying something I didn't really realize was going to happen this year: the clients I get to see all over again! The trickle started a while ago, of course- I've had several weddings where I get to enjoy spending a little reception time with the brides & grooms who referred me to their friends. But this year it just seems overwhelming, and I couldn't be more humbled. This was one of those weddings. I photographed Colleen's dad's wedding in 2013, and it was so much fun getting to see her family again and meet more of the clan. I was totally in awe of both Colleen and Calvin's families! They both have lots of siblings, who are all really sweet and wonderful people. The closeness in these families was easy to see. It makes so much sense that these two fell in love, having both come from such clearly loving homes.
What I love about Colleen and Calvin is their shared enjoyment of the outdoors and their passion for plants and nature. They met at UW-Madison while working in gardens and greenhouses. It's no wonder their love flourished the way it did! Pun completely intended. 😉 They're both very down-to-earth and fun to be around. The wedding they created together was absolutely gorgeous! I got to visit one of my long-time favorite venues, The Iron Horse Hotel, and I found a new favorite: The Pritzlaff. The stunning florals that came from the visions of two very green thumbs were a perfect compliment to the cream city brick and industrial, vintage backdrops. Add in a beautiful wedding party and an adorable English Setter sidekick, and you have a completely unique wedding!
Colleen & Calvin- thank you so much for choosing me as your wedding photographer. I can't think of a better way to spend a day than to enjoy the company of you and your families! It was BEAUTIFUL!
